Purana Qila, a 16th-century fort in Delhi erected by Sher Shah Suri and Mughal emperor Humayun, is currently undergoing its third session of excavation, which was commissioned by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in January of this year. Antiquities, ceramics, and constructions dating back to the Mauryan and pre-Mauryan times, i.e. before 300 BCE, have been discovered during the present wave of digs. It is a historical time capsule of Delhi.
